Work

I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ for individuals, families and foundations. After working for 20 years in software research and development in pioneering Silicon Valley companies, I started a business solving financial management problems for individuals and non-profits. From 2009 to 2012 I joined a local independent wealth advisor firm, where I learned the ins and outs of the personal financial services idustry. In 2013, I restarted my company, Acorn Financial Planning as a Registered Investment Advisor.

Good financial planning is complex—I find that most of my successful friends want to spend their time living their lives, not managing their finances. Other financial professionals such as tax professionals, insurance providers, brokers, and estate attorneys only look at one piece of the financial picture—as financial planners we look at the whole picture. I believe in goal-based personal financial planning, considering the entire financial picture.

Acorn is an independent, fee-based financial planning and wealth management firm. As an independent advisor, I have no proprietary products to push. As a fee-based advisor, I am only compensated by my clients, not by commissions or kickbacks. I have no conflict of interest, I put clients interests first and foremost. My financial advice takes into account the total fnancial picture and my investment advice is based in public and scientific, not commercial or proprietary, research.
